Slovenia has more than 685 registered inns, 818 tourist farms and 2.352 restaurants. Moreover, we should not forget to mention all other culinary places, where you can delight your senses with superb culinary delights, created by the best Slovenian chefs.
One of the latest and most important topics in gastronomy is the list of the Slovenian protected agricultural products and aliments. Currently 32 agricultural products or aliments are protected; as a protected designation of origin, geographical indication, traditional specialty guaranteed or higher quality. Moreover, four of them are even in the EU quality scheme (for guaranteeing quality).
Despite its traditional simplicity, the Slovenian cuisine is diverse. However, we should not forget the multitude of excellent restaurants, menus and young culinary teams that stimulate our imagination and excite our palate day by day.
The aim of our culinary events and festivals is to expand culinary culture among people of all ages, professions and interests. To follow our aim on the website as well, additional useful and interesting information is offered in other sections under “About gastronomy”.
